John Pateros, Process CoachFeatured Article: Loving Life Force Energy

by John Pateros

Love is the true medicine of healing. It's our love for the feeling parts of ourselves that enables us to find and heal them. As children we learned to suppress or repress feelings as a way of coping. That sent those parts into the shadow where they've remained hidden-until they're triggered by a present circumstance. The triggering is useful, because now there is an opportunity to become reacquainted with the parts of us that are still feeling what was suppressed.

The most direct (and perhaps easiest) way to heal and integrate these lost parts is to love the energy of the feeling in the body. However, an old coping strategy usually kicks in; a story starts up whenever we feel hurt, scared or angry. The story however is just a series of thoughts about the feeling, not the feeling itself... more

Pam Bolton, Process Coach Ask a Coach

with Pam Bolton

Q: How does Process Coaching deal with depression?

Let’s start with what depression is. How would we describe it? Words like ‘no energy,’ feeling ‘blah,’ ‘down,’ ‘don’t really care about anything,’ ‘low,’ and ‘unmotivated’ are some that come to mind for me.

In my experience as a Process Coach, depression moves in when we haven’t been letting ourselves feel whatever other feelings are present, feelings that are most likely strong and intense, and darn uncomfortable. In other words, depression shows up when we’ve been bypassing or denying our real feelings... more

Q: How would Process Coaching help a person heal a broken heart?

I know other readers can relate, at one time or another we all have had our hearts broken. We have all experienced the loss of love from a time when someone said “No” to us; what we asked for and wanted was denied; the person we loved went away. In those moments it’s as though love itself has left us, alone and bereft; it’s as though love is erased. This is what wants to be felt. And this is what we’ve turned away from, time and time again... more

Q: What are some ways of getting out of my head and into my feelings?

The BIG question! How to break the cycle of not feeling what’s inside to be felt?  We live in a culture where we’ve been heavily conditioned to shut down, shut up, get over it, and be nice, until we end up with no idea of how we feel. Besides the “be nice” conditioning, there are the not-so-positive examples of people who have denied their feelings so much, for so long, that they explode and wreak havoc on themselves and those within range... more

Adam Bulbulia, Process CoachProcess Tip: Leave the Courtroom

by Adam Bulbulia

One problem we humans all seem to share is the hurtful habit of judging or blaming ourselves. The truth is that we are innocent; we’ve all been doing the best we can with what we’ve had to work with in the moment. Unfortunately we can lose touch with this truth from time to time, and here is how to get back to it...

Anytime you catch yourself beating yourself up or judging yourself about something, notice that it's as if there’s a trial going on. There’s a courtroom scene right there inside your head; the prosecutor is accusing and the judge is judging. Now look around and notice there is an exit door, and that you can simply decide it’s time to leave. The Judgment Release practice is an excellent ‘get out of court free card.’

As you leave the courtroom, find your way to the classroom where you are a learner and whatever you are experiencing is part of the current lesson. In the classroom there is no question of guilt or blame; there is no feeling of being bad or wrong. The only question here is what there is to learn from this experience; it's the loving classroom we all wish we had as kids. (Click here for more about the courtroom and the classroom.)

Kathleen MacGregor, Process CoachExpressing!

by Kathleen MacGregor

On the Healing to Wholeness Expressing! web site you'll find various expressions of lost parts of self via poetry, prose, photos and video. Our purpose is to allow the hidden parts of us can come out of hiding as they will and tell their stories, paint their pictures and be heard—be loved.

We consciously take the position of loving parental Healer and show up for the parts that have been calling, waiting, hiding, shouting, raging, weeping, poking, jabbing, whispering, whining, pleading, bleeding sweating, longing for us to bring them back home, back into wholeness. We do this in order to free our wills and evolve towards wholeness.  Expressing is a doorway through which we pass for our learning and growth.

Here is a poem I wrote expressing some of my feelings about being a mother:

The Biggest Love

I wanted a child
Because I was going to invent the
Biggest love
That had ever been
Pure love
Pure beauty

I could be Mary (Ah! Ah! Ah!)... more
